Dr Ruba Al Akash is the Deputy Director of Princess Basma Centre for Jordanian Women Studies at Yarmouk University, Jordan. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent, UK. As a social anthropologist with an interest in the Middle East, urban studies, displacement, forced migration as well as religion and politics, her research is highly interdisciplinary particularly at the intersection between social, political and urban anthropology. More recently, she has been investigating the impact of forced migration, and displacement of Syrian refugees inside and outside the camps in Jordan. Current research focuses on the Syrian refugees’ experiences in Jordan.
